Periodontist & Oral Plastic Reconstructive Surgeon

A tradition in minimally invasive oral plastic reconstructive surgery

Dr. Sam Gilani is a UCLA-trained periodontist and oral plastic reconstructive surgeon with more than 25 years of experience — and over 26,000 dental implants placed — in advanced periodontal, implant, and reconstructive dental care. With a Master’s in Oral Biology and specialty training in Periodontics, he brings a deep scientific understanding of bone, gum tissue, healing, and implant dentistry to every case.

Academic Foundation

25+ Years of teaching & surgery

Alongside private practice, Dr. Gilani held a teaching position on the periodontics faculty at UCLA for 25 years and served on the teaching staff at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center for 25 years.

Over that career he has taught dentists and specialists in periodontal surgery, implant reconstruction, intra-oral plastic surgery, bone grafting, and minimally invasive implant protocols — lecturing nationally and internationally. His approach combines university-level training, decades of clinical experience, careful treatment planning, and a calm, patient-focused commitment to long-term, natural-looking results.

Clinical Focus

Saving & rebuilding what matters

His clinical focus includes saving natural teeth whenever possible, rebuilding lost bone and soft tissue, and restoring function and aesthetics through minimally invasive periodontal microsurgery and advanced implant techniques.

He is especially experienced in complex cases involving severe periodontal disease, bone loss, failing teeth, and patients who may have previously been told their condition was difficult or hopeless — often working through multidisciplinary treatment planning for complex oral cavity disease.

“So much of the quality of life revolves around having sound teeth and a beautiful smile. My goal is to help you keep your natural teeth for a lifetime — and, if through some misfortune a tooth is lost, to provide the best foundation so that you can have the most natural-looking and natural-functioning replacement teeth available. I look forward to serving you.”

Difficult Cases

A focus on the difficult cases

Much of Dr. Gilani’s work involves patients who have been told their situation is complicated — advanced gum disease, significant bone loss, failing or hopeless teeth, and implant sites that first need grafting or sinus elevation. Decades of surgical experience, university-level training, and a research background in oral biology come together in careful planning and minimally invasive techniques.

For patients, the experience is meant to feel different from what they may expect of surgery: clear explanations in plain language, the most conservative effective option first, and a calm, unhurried approach. For referring doctors, it means a specialist partner who performs the surgical phase and returns the patient for restoration.

The practice serves Beverly Hills and the surrounding Westside and Los Angeles area. If you’re looking for a periodontist in Beverly Hills, or you’d like to request a consultation, we’re glad to help.
